The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has seized 22 gold ornaments valued at approximately 3.8 million taka in Darshana, Chuadanga.
The gold items, weighing a total of 306 grams, were confiscated from Chaygharia village near the Darshana border around 10 am on Saturday.
Major Kazi Asif Ahmed, Additional Director of the Chuadanga-6 BGB Battalion, stated that the seizure was made following intelligence reports. The BGB positioned themselves in front of the Chaygharia Mosque, where they observed three suspicious individuals riding a motorcycle toward Darshana from the border.
Upon noticing the BGB's presence, the smugglers fled, abandoning a plastic bag. Searching the bag, the BGB discovered 22 gold ornaments, weighing 306 grams, which were identified as being made in India.
