BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said the party’s Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman had a ‘unique leadership’ in the recent mass uprising of the students and people.
He made the remarks while addressing the biennial council of Chuadanga district BNP on Saturday (November 23).
Mirza Fakhrul said the Awami League took the form of a terrible dictatorship through repression and torture. Finally, they fled the country due to the anger of the people.
He said people's support will be needed to make sustainable of the reformations by the interim government. Only the elected government and the democratic parliament can do that.
Mentioning that the BNP doesn't want elections for power, Mirza Fakhrul Islam said the BNP wants elections for the sake of democracy and to establish the rights of the people.
The senior leader of the party said BNP wants to hand over the charges to the youths. It (BNP) has no problems with the youths and students. BNP only wants to face the conspiracies for the greater interest of the people.
Fakhrul also said BNP wants to move forward with the reformations by forming a government with those who were involved in the movement.
