Two revision petition have been filed seeking the cancellation of bail and remand for questioning of six officials, including Transcom Group's CEO Simeen Rahman. The petitions have been submitted on Sunday, to the Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court in connection with a case involving share fraud and the creation of fake family settlement documents.
The hearing on the two petitions may take place on Monday, according to lawyer Ahsanul Karim.
He states that the revision petitions have been filed on behalf of Shahzreh Huq, the younger daughter of Latifur Rahman, the founder chairman of Transcom, who is the plaintiff in both cases.
The other accused in the case are Transcom Group's Executive Director (Corporate Affairs-Legal) Md Fakhruzzaman Bhuiyan, Director (Corporate Finance) Kamrul Hasan, Director (Corporate Finance) Abdullah Al Mamun, Assistant Company Secretary Mohammed Mossadeq, and Manager (Company Secretary) Abu Yusuf Md Siddik.
According to case documents, separate applications were filed on May 29 in the CMM Court seeking 7 and 10-day remands for the accused in two different cases, in order to facilitate the investigation.
However, the court rejected those applications.
Shahzreh Huq's lawyers state that they have filed separate revision petitions in the Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court challenging the CMM Court's rejection order. In the petitions, they seek the cancellation of the CMM Court's decision and request the remand of the accused, citing the need for further investigation.
According to case sources, in February, Shahzreh Huq, the youngest daughter of Latifur Rahman, filed these cases at Gulshan police station. Following this, several accused in the case were arrested by the police and later granted bail.
Simeen Rahman, who was abroad at the time, surrendered upon her return to the country and secured bail from the court.
