Bashundhara Group Third Division (U-17) Football League 2022-23, organised by Dhaka Metropolitan Football League Committee (DMFLC) and supervised by the Bangladesh Football Federation, began at the Bashundhara Kings Arena on Saturday.
BFF Vice-President and DMFLC Chairman Imrul Hassan inaugurated the meet as the chief guest, reports Daily Sun.
Green Welfare Center Munshiganj beat Shantinagar Club by 3-0 goals in the opening match. Rafiul Islam, Ridoy Chowdhury and Mohammad Yasin scored one each in the 21st, 40th and 90+2nd minutes of the game.
A total of 15 teams are taking part in the single-leg format of the league this year. The matches will be held at the centralised venue at the Bir Shrestha Shaheed Sepoy Mostafa Kamal Stadium in Kamalapur.
The participating teams are: Asaduzzaman FA, FC Brahmanbaria, Dipali Jubo Sangha, Chawkbazar Kings, Elias Ahmad Chowdhury SS, FC Uttar Bongo, Green Welfare Center, Lalbagh SC, Rainbow AC, Shantinagar, Skylark FC, The Muslims Institute, Tangail FA, Uttara Friends Club and Wazed Miah KC.
The top two teams will be promoted to the next Bashundhara Group Second Division Football League while the two bottom-placed teams will be relegated to Pioneer Football League.
Alamgir Shomaj Kollayan KS clinched the title of the last edition in 2021.
