Aussie Al-rounder Marcus Stoinis hammered a blistering knock of 59 0ff just 18 balls as Australia defeated Sri Lanka by 7 wickets on Tuesday in Group 1 match of ICC Men’s T20 World Cup held at Perth in Australia.
Winning the toss, Australia elected to field first. Tight bowling from Aussie bowlers didn’t able Lankan batters to score freely.
Opener Pathum Nishanka scored 40 off 45 balls, with strike rate under 100. Middle order batter Charith Asalanka hammered 38 off 25 balls, but that wasn’t enough to give Lankans a big score.
In reply, Australia also started slowly, but Marcus Stoinis’s innings changed everything when he came to bat at number 5.
He just smashed Lankan bowlers here and there to give Australia a comfortable win with 21 balls to spare.
