'Kajol Rekha', starred by Mondera Chakroborty and directed by Giasuddin Selim, has been selected to participate in the Rotterdam International Film Festival in the Netherlands. It has been selected in the Limelight section of the 54th edition of the festival. Based on the Bengali fairy tale Mymensingh Gitika, Mondera played the role of elder 'Kajol Rekha' in this film, and her role was widely applauded.
Regarding the selection of 'Kajol Rekha' at the festival, Mondera said, “This festival has always prioritized experimental films. Kajol Rekha has been selected as it goes to the priority of the festival.”
Giasuddin Selim, the director of the film, said, “The way we presented an ancient fairy tale like Mymensingh Gitika in a local form has made the organizers interested about it. I feel honored for this.”
The Rotterdam International Film Festival will open on January 30 in 2025 and will continue to February 9. Giasuddin Selim and Mithila will participate in the event.
