The Cairo International Film Festival is one of the oldest and most significant festivals in Africa and the Arab world. The 45th edition of this renowned event began on November 13th and will continue until November 22nd.
The 45th Cairo International Film Festival kicks off in Cairo, Egypt, on November 13th, where the world premiere of Mehazabien 's second film, "Priyo Malati," will be featured.
During the screening of "Priyo Malati" at the Cairo Festival, Mehazabien Chowdhury had a conversation with the Bangladesh Pratidin correspondent in Cairo.
Mehazabien shared that "Priyo Maloti" has officially been selected for the Cairo International Film Festival and has received a positive reaction from the Egyptian audience at its premiere. After the screening, many viewers rated the film seven out of ten, while others gave it five out of ten. Some audience members remarked, "The stories of your country and ours are very similar. It's heartbreaking to think such things also happen in your country." The actress was truly touched by the direct feedback from the audience.
Since she was a child, she had always dreamed of visiting Egypt. She never imagined that she would come to Cairo to prove her talents. The actress expressed that this feels like a dream come true for her.
The actress also shared that personating a real incident of Bangladesh, portraying its true essence through natural acting, and representing the country on the international stage through film is truly a source of pride for both her and the nation.
With a smile, the actress told reporters, "The exciting news for you is that ‘Priyo Maloti’ has been officially selected for the Indian Film Festival. Our team will be leaving for Goa soon, so we kindly ask for your prayers and best wishes."
The film is currently having its premiere in several cinemas in Egypt, and compared to other films, it has garnered significant interest from the audience.
Shankha Dasgupta made his debut as a film director with ‘Priyo Maloti’. He mentioned that there will be four screenings of ‘Priyo Maloti’ in Cairo. Two of these will involve the festival audience, while one screening will be for journalists and one for the judges. Each screening will have a discussion and Q&A session at the beginning and end.
The film will compete for the 'Golden Pyramid' award at the festival. Along with ‘Priyo Maloti’, around 15 other films have been listed in this category.
Directed by Shankha Dasgupta, this film stars Mehazabien, and both the director and actress are anticipated to attend the festival.
