The “Bharat-Bangladesh Film Festival,” a two-day celebration of films from Bangladesh and India, will be hosted in Kolkata to commemorate the death anniversary of the distinguished cine journalist Fazlul Haque.
The 4th edition of the fest Organised by Fazlul Haque Mani Smriti Sansad and Bidhannagar Film Society of West Bengal will be held at the Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre (EZCC) in the city’s Bidhannagar area on 26 and 27 October.
Popular Indian film director Goutam Ghose will inaugurate the film festival.
The event schedule on Saturday includes songs and poetry programme at 4.00 pm. Fazlul Haque Moni Smriti Lecture at 4.30. The lecture will be addressed by Shamik Bandyopadhyay/Sanjay Mukhopadhyay.
India-Bangladesh joint venture film “Shankhachil” directed by Goutam Ghose and Mrinal Sen’s film “Akaler Sandhane” will be screened on the opening day.
On the second day of the festival on Sunday, songs and poetry programme will be held at 4:00pm following Fazlul Haque Moni Smriti Lecture 2 addressed by film director Goutam Ghose. Children’s writer Amirul Islam will preside over the programme.
Films “Ganashatra” ,”Hirak Rajar Deshe” directed by Satyajit Ray and “Atanka” by Tapan Sinha will be shown in the evening.
