The High Court has annulled the proceedings in six cases filed against BNP Joint Secretary General Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie. The cases, which involved charges of obstructing police work, vandalism, and arson, have now been dismissed.
A High Court bench, led by Justice AKM Asaduzzaman and Justice Syed Enayet Hossain, issued the verdict on Wednesday, after hearing the petition to dismiss six cases filed against BNP Joint Secretary General Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie.
The petitioner was represented in court by lawyeri Md. Kamal Hossan, along with lawyers Zakir Hossain Bhuiyan and Ajmal Hossain.
Lawyer Md. Kamal Hossain stated that in 2010, a total of six cases were filed against Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie, with five cases lodged at Shahbagh Police Station and one at Dhanmondi Police Station. The charges in these cases included obstruction of police duties, vandalism, and arson.
Subsequently, an application was filed in the High Court to quash the cases, leading to the issuance of a rule. After considering the matter, the High Court declared the proceedings in all six cases null and void.
