Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman declared on Friday that Bangladesh will not tolerate any form of aggression or territorial infringement, emphasizing that the country will not surrender any part of its land to anyone.
In a direct warning to India, Dr. Rahman stated, “We will not give an inch of Bangladesh’s land to anyone. We will not tolerate any aggression.” He made the remarks as the chief guest at the Cumilla City Jamaat Workers’ Conference, held at the Town Hall ground.
The conference was presided over by Kazi Din Mohammad, Ameer of Cumilla City Jamaat.
During his speech, Dr. Rahman also highlighted the need for a "free and fair" election, emphasizing the importance of reforms and the timely holding of elections. “A free and fair election free from muscle power is needed, and elections must be held timely,” he said.
The Jamaat Ameer also addressed the issue of the 2009 Pilkhana killings, where 57 military officials lost their lives. He called for a fair investigation into the incident, pointing out that no trial had yet been conducted for those responsible. “There has been no trial,” he remarked, urging a thorough investigation into the tragic event.
The event was attended by several prominent Jamaat leaders, including Maulana Abu Taher Mohammad Masum, Assistant Secretary General of Jamaat; Maulana Abul Hasanat Mohammad Abdul Halim; Central Executive Committee members Mohammad Abdur Rob and Mohammad Mobarak Hossain; and Advocate Jasim Uddin Sarkar, former VP of Chaksu, who were present as special guests.
