Four platoon members of Bangladesh Border Guard (BGB) have been deployed in the Mohakhali rail gate area. BGB members have taken up positions on the opposite side of the rail gate.
They arrived at the scene at around 4:15 pm on Monday. BGB Public Relations Officer (PRO) Md. Shariful Islam confirmed the matter.
He said that students of Titumir College in Mohakhali have blocked the railway line. 4 platoons of BGB have been deployed there to keep the situation normal.
The students blocked the railway line with a procession at around 3:40 pm. The railway workers present there immediately showed red flags and moved forward along the railway line. Later, the driver of the Coastal Express train on the line saw the red flag and was able to stop the train by slowing down the speed and approaching the Mohakhali rail gate.
Earlier, the Coastal Express train that left Dhaka returned from Mohakhali.
The train's loco master Latif, said, "We immediately informed our superiors and authorities about the incident of the train being stopped. They have instructed us to reverse the train. Accordingly, the train is now being delayed."
