The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) on Wednesday issued a notification instructing all concerned to undertake road construction works in the night with a view to ending day-time public sufferings.
Furthermore, each construction and repair project has to be completed within maximum ten consecutive nights.
After each night of works, the contractor has to render the excavated road usable for day-time commuters using iron sheets and other coverings. The iron sheets have to be brought to the construction site before starting of road digging.
The contractor and project authorities must inform the public about the starting and ending date of construction works. The deadline cannot extend ten nights.
They must also require DMP permissions beforehand, use traffic signals before and after 200 metres of work and ensure the presence of a DMP traffic division representative during work, the DMP notification read.
The contractor cannot dig both sides of a road simultaneously.
