Dr AFM Khalid Hossain, the Religious Affairs Advisor of the interim government, has stated that the hajj pilgrims will be able to perform hajj at an affordable cost as the government is trying to make sure that pilgrims can travel to Saudi Arabia on ships, reports BSS.
“We have discussed the proposal with the Saudi authorities to send pilgrims boarding on ship as the people used to travel by ships for hajj before and after the independence”, said the advisor while present at a function at Jamiatual Sunnah Madrasha in Shibchar upazila on Tuesday.
The respected Maulana among the Muslim community informed that the Saudi government primarily has consented to the proposal.
“We have already talked to the owners of the ship companies …at least we want to open a door so that the common people can perform hajj in a cost-effective way,” said the respected Maulana/
He further informed that the Saudi government is very sincere and they want to co-operate
The religious advisor has acknowledged that the cost of traveling by Biman Bangladesh Airlines now is not very cheap.
“We have also discussed it with Biman to reduce the fare and we are hopeful that the hajj packages would be cost-effective”, he added.
Chaired by Allama Mahmudul Hasan, the function also was attended, among others, by Hazrat Maulana Mahfuzul Huq, director Maulana Obaidur Rahman Khan Nadvi, and director general of Gauharpur Madrasha Maulana Musleh Uddin.
