Junayed Al Habib, 22, a member of anti-discrimination students’ movement died after 9 days of getting stabbed by former Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) members on Monday evening.
Local BNP leader Md. Tariqul Islam confirmed the matter of death of Junayed. He was the son of Md Jasim Uddin of Batiara area of Marjal Union of Raypura upazila in Narsigdi district and the student of a local college there.
BNP leader Md Tarekul Islam said that on Monday afternoon Junayed's condition was critical and the doctors advised him to be admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). As the ICU was not available in Dhaka Medical, he was taken to Green Life Hospital in the capital. Junayed died while preparing for getting admitted there.
On September 28, some people led by former BCL leader Swadhin and Pial stabbed Junayed at Batiara intersection of the upazila.
The family claims that the former activists of the local Chhatra League stabbed Junayed for taking part in the student movement. On September 30, Junaid's uncle Shafiq filed a case in Raipura police station in this regard accusing 14 people including Swadhin and Pial as the plaintiff. Police later arrested one person.
