Tongi East Police Station has arrested Md. Mahin Zaman, one of the close aides of the controversial Jubo League leader Ismail Hossain Samrat.
He was arrested from the Tongi Bazar area on Saturday morning. Mahin is the son of SM Kamruzzaman of Tangail Sadar.
According to police sources, Md. Mahin Zaman, one of the associates of former Jubo League leader Samrat was staying in the Shahjahanpur area of Dhaka. Later, on Saturday morning, a group of police including SI Mahbub of Tongi East Police Station conducted a raid in the area based on secret information and arrested him.
In this regard, the officer-in-charge of the police station, Kaiser Ahmed, confirmed the arrest of Mahin Zaman and said that Mahin, who was involved in contronting the students in the anti-discrimination movement, was a fugitive. He is an accused in the case filed over the violent incidents of the anti-discrimination student movement.
