The Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) on Monday has directed banks to freeze all accounts of former Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) mayor Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh, reports Daily Sun.
The BFIU also instructed banks to freeze the accounts of Taposh’s wife Afrin Taposh and their younger son Sheikh Fazle Nashwan.
Confirming the matter, an official of the BFIU told the media on Monday that banks were asked to suspend transactions of accounts held by Taposh, and his family members for a period of 30 days.
The BFIU also instructed to freeze accounts of the companies owned by them for the same period, he added.
Besides, the anti-money laundering agency also sought an update on the bank accounts.
