A Dhaka court has imposed a travel ban on Saifuzzaman Chowdhury Javed, former land minister, and his wife, Rukmila Zaman, reports The Daily Sun.
Shams Mohammad Zoglul Hossain, Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge, passed the order in response to a petition filed by the ACC(Anti-Corruption Commission).
Saifuzzaman has been accused of laundering money in various countries, especially in the United Kingdom.
In the petition ACC said, “He acquired 350 properties in the UK, 228 in the UAE, and nine in the US, all registered under his name and his family members”.
Ram Prasad Mondal, the Deputy Director(DD) of the Anti Corruption Commission, filed the petition while Public Prosecutor Mir Ahmed Ali Salam presented the allegation before the court.
