A Dhaka court on Tuesday has placed senior journalists Mozammel Haque Babu, Shyamal Dutta and former president of Ekattorer Ghatak Dalal Nirmul Committee Shahriar Kabir on a seven-day remand in two separate murder cases, reports Daily Sun.
Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Md Sanaullah passed the orders on Tuesday.
Earlier, police produced the accused before the court and sought a 10-day remand.
Shyamal Dutta was placed on a seven-day remand in a case filed over the killing of Mohammad Fazlu, 31, in Dhaka's Bhasantek area during the student-led mass uprising on 5 August.
On the other hand, the court placed Mozammel Haque Babu and Shahriar Kabir on remand in connection with a case filed with Ramna Model Police Station over the killing of domestic help Liza in the city’s Ramna area during the Anti-Discrimination Movement on 18 July.
On Monday, a team of police arrested Babu, managing director and editor-in-chief of Ekattor TV, and Shyamal, former general secretary of Jatiya Press Club, from Mymensingh's Dhobaura upazila.
Shahriar Kabir was arrested from his Banani residence the same day.
