Five people were killed and one was injured in a head-on collision between a CNG-run auto-rickshaw and a microbus in Kamarkhand of Sirajganj district.
The accident took place in front of the ACI Food Factory on the Sirajganj-Nalka regional highway in Kamarkhand Upazila at around 12:00 pm on Sunday, Daily Sun reports.
The deceased are Rashedul Islam, son of Amzad Hossain from Brahmanbaria village in Raiganj Upazila, Nuruzzaman Ali (52) and his elder brother Tareq Rahman (55), sons of the late Ramzan Ali from Bhatra village in Tarash Upazila.
The identities of the remaining two victims are yet to be confirmed.
Apu Kumar Mondal, Inspector of Kamarkhand Upazila Fire Service, reported that the microbus, traveling from Nalka to Sirajganj, collided head-on with the auto-rickshaw coming from Nalka.
Three passengers of the auto-rickshaw were killed on the spot. On information, the fire service arrived at the scene and recovered the bodies of the three victims.
Locals rushed three injured individuals, including the auto-rickshaw driver, to the hospital, where two more succumbed to their injuries.
Sajjadur Rahman, Inspector (Investigation) of Kamarkhand Police Station, confirmed that three people died at the scene, while two others died after being taken to Shaheed M Mansur Ali Medical College Hospital.
