Showing an oblique reference to the cruel death of Felani Khatun by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF), Home Adviser Lt Gen (retd) M Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has ordered the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) not to show their backs on the bordering areas.
“We don’t want to see the recurrence of such a heinous death like Felani Khatun. Discharge your duties upholding your professionalism without showing your backs on the borders.”
He made the remarks on Saturday while addressing the senior officials of the BGB at BGB headquarters in the capital.
Posing warning to the BGB personnel, the adviser said corrupted members will be dismissed from the job alongside bringing to the book.
He also said BGB will have to work as per the law. Their (BGB) first job is to ensure the security of the border and stop smuggling.
Jahangir Alam called the BGB personnel to perform their duty with professionalism.
