At least eight people were arrested with arms and ammunition during the joint forces’ drive in Sadar upazila of Cox's Bazar in the small hours of Friday, reports UNB.
The arrestees are Kalim Ullah, 34, Md Khorshed Alam, 37, Md Hasan Sharif Laden, 20, Md Shaheen, 23, Md Mizan, 20, Abdul Malek, 48, Abdul Hai, 24 and Abdul Aziz, 25.
They were arrested from P.M.Khali union of the upazila around 3am, RAB 15 Senior Assistant Director (Law & Media) Abul Kalam Chowdhury confirmed.
During the drive, law enforcers also recovered two foreign weapons, 3 single-barreled guns, 2 LG, 3 pistol magazines, 9 rounds of pistol ammo, 39 cartridges, and several local weapons from their possession.
Tipped off, a team of joint forces raided two houses in P.M.Khali area of Cox's Bazar Sadar Upazila and arrested them, said the RAB official.
A large amount of domestic and foreign arms and ammunition were recovered by searching two houses in the operation which lasted for 5 hours, he added.
He also said that the arrested persons had been committing terrorism, extortion, robbery, and various crimes for the past few years.
Legal action is being taken against them, he added.
