Political analyst and Distinguished Professor of Illinois State University, Dr. Ali Reaz said, "There is no other way than to rewrite the situation created in the constitution. Even if a party gets 300 seats in the election, they will not be able to change this constitution.”
He said, 'I am not in favor of amending the constitution. Fixing it won't help. There is no way but to rewrite it as article 7 (A) of the Constitution has brought in some things that there is no way to amend.”
Dr. Ali Reaz said, "Constitutionally, a dictatorship has been established. Because of this, the prime minister has incredible power. The electoral search committee was opaque. Sheikh Hasina has put her own people in the commission.”
He also said, “I don't think democracy is a place of consensus. Democracy is all about guaranteeing being tolerant over expression of minorities and expression of opinion. We need to rebuild that kind of democracy. Therefore, I do not see any other way except to amend the constitution.
