Zakia Sultana Zebin, a first-year Bachelor of Arts student, had a dream to be a lawyer. Still, the effort faced a setback in 2022 when his father died leaving uncertainty over her study, reports Daily Sun.
The girl, who hails from Sarkar Para village of Hatia union of Ulipur upazila in Kurigram, said her mother is ill. Being the eldest among three siblings, she is the only income earner for her family.
Knowing her distress, Bashundhara Shuvosangho, a voluntary organisation patronised by the Bashundhara Group, stands by her.
They arranged a three-month-long training of operating a sewing machine and at the end of it, they handed over a sewing machine to her.
They also took responsibility for her education so that she could complete her Bachelor of Arts in Islamic History at Kurigram Government College. Her younger brother is in the ninth grade and has a younger sister.
Getting assurance from the business group and the voluntary organisation, she thanked them.
She said, “I can earn extra from now on. With this income, I can support my family and younger siblings. And since the Bashundhara Group has taken responsibility for my education cost, it is great news for me.”
