All the deputy commissioners (DC)in the country are going to be removed at a time on Tuesday. The decision has been taken in the meeting of Superior Selection Board (SSB) on Monday evening.
Besides, the 'fit list' selected for appointment of new administrators is being abolished. A committee consisting of representatives from BCS administration’s 24th, 25th and 27th batch will assist the SSB in selecting the new deputy commissioners.
These field level officers of the rank of deputy Secretary perform important responsibilities at the local level including maintaining the law and order situation, land acquisition, project implementation.
Sheikh Hasina's government has fallen in the face of student movement. Along with the leaders and activists of the party, since then, the police and administration officials are in trouble all over the country. There has already been a major reshuffle in the police force. The administration is also being reshuffled.
As part of this, the interim government has decided to withdraw all deputy commissioners (DCs) across the country.
