Abdus Sattar Bhuiyan, former adviser to BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, has won in Brahmanbaria-2 by-elections as an independent candidate.
He secured 46,323 votes while his nearest rival, Jatiya Party candidate Abdul Hamid Bhasani, got 9,500 votes, the unofficial results disclosed this information on Wednesday.
Sattar-Bhuiyan) was an elected lawmaker from Brahmanbaria and Cumilla as a BNP candidate for five times, including the 11th parliamentary polls held in 2018.
He resigned from the BNP in early December last year.
