Sayem Sobhan Anvir stands by poor, physically challenged students marking his birthday

Chill penury represses their noble rage and freezes the genial current of the soul. Many students are held back by poverty.

There are many students in the country who cannot continue study and materialise their dreams due to poverty even though they are highly meritorious. Their parents struggle to arrange food for family members, let alone funding their study.

Against the backdrop of this social picture, Bashundhara Group, the country’s largest industrial conglomerate, has emerged as the saviour of such students, extending helping hands to them.

Apart from contributing to the socioeconomic development of the country, the corporate house has stood by thousands of insolvent students with financial assistance so that they can chase their cherished dreams.

It also provides assistance for the people affected by Covid-19, bone-chilling cold and floods throughout the year.

In addition to contributing to industrialisation, economy and employment, the industrial conglomerate has established medical college and hospital to provide medical education and tertiary treatment at an affordable cost.

It has already been facilitating MBBS study of many poor students in the country.

In continuation of this humanitarian gesture, Bashundhara Group Managing Director Sayem Sobhan Anvir has now taken the responsibility of the education of 104 physically challenged insolvent students, marking his birthday.

He invited the students who could not enroll in Class-XI after passing their Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examination due to poverty from across the country to his residence in Bashundhara Residential Area in the capital on Tuesday on the occasion of his birthday and shared joys with them, reports Daily Sun.

The residence of the Bashundhara Group Managing Director got illuminated with the presence of the students. Several physically challenged students were seen in wheelchairs.

Bashundhara Group Managing Director Sayem Sobhan Anvir and his wife and Bashundhara Group Director Sabrina Sobhan handed over Tk 25,000 to each of the 104 students.

Besides, the largest corporate house has assured the students of providing Tk 2,000 per month until completion of their education.

Speaking on the occasion, Sayem Sobhan Anvir advised the students to continue study sincerely for the development of their own as well as the country.

“You should sincerely continue study which enlightens human minds and creates a sense of judgment. Education is such a property which only belongs to you. I regularly study books and newspapers,” he said.

Sabrina Sobhan also advised the students to complete their study and assured them of Bashundhara Group’s continuous support for their education.

Daily Sun Editor Enamul Hoque Chowdhury, Kaler Kantho Editor-in-Chief Imdadul Haq Milan, Bangladesh Pratidin Editor Naem Nizam, Banglanews24.com Editor Jewel Mazhar, Executive Editor of NEWS24 television channel Rahul Raha and Bashundhara Group Media Adviser Abu Tayeb were present.

Shuvo Sangha, a social organisation of Bashundhara Group's vernacular daily Kaler Kantho, listed the students from across the country.

Shuvo Sangha Director Zakaria Zaman, its other members and senior journalists of the media outlets of Bashundhara Group and high-ups of the corporate body were present.

Meanwhile, Bashundhara Group Managing Director Sayem Sobhan Anvir also shared joy with underprivileged children across the country, marking his birthday.

Special dishes were served at 300 local orphanages and 283 madrasas in Dhaka, Chattogram, Khulna, Gopalganj, Narail and other districts on the occasion.

Sayem Sobhan Anvir has transformed himself into a promising industrialist in Bangladesh having unique skills and setting examples of standing by people on humanitarian grounds.

Some 65,000 orphan children enjoyed delicious foods in Dhaka and on its outskirts while 20,000 in Chattogram, 15,000 in Khulna and 5,000 in Sylhet.

International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB) arranged the catering for the underprivileged children.

The iconic businessman in person supervised the process while over 100 volunteers enthusiastically joined hands in the programme. The food distribution continued for the whole day.

Jamia Islamia Arabia Madrasa Principal Maulana Shahadat Hossain expressed his gratitude to Bashundhara Group for sharing special food with his students.

Being deprived of the affection of their parents, these children are growing up in various orphanages and madrasas by the grace of Allah.

The children prayed for the prosperity of Sayem Sobhan Anvir and his family members.

Bashundhara Group MD runs such initiative not only on his birthday but also shares food among 5,000 children every Friday.

He also continues support for 104 devotees to perform Umrah as they cannot afford to do it.
