Boarder Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and police arrested three persons with 20 gold bars in spate drives in Khulna and Jashore.
The persons arrested in Khulna are identified as Abul Hossain and Emon who tried to smuggle 15 gold bars out Saturday morning.
Police apprehended the duo in course of searching a passenger bus at the Zero Point of Khulna-Satkhira highway.
Sources confirmed that law enforcers detected the gold bars measuring nearly 2 kilograms.
Enamul Haque, Officer-in-Charge of Labanchara Police Station, said “During search at a bus of Tungipara Express, police doubted two persons for their inconsistent statements. Later, cops seized 15 gold bars from shoes of the duo.”
Meanwhile, BGB arrested a person named Abul Kalam with five gold bars from Bagachra area of Sharsha upazila under Jashore.
The arrestee is son of Jamal Hossain of Bagachara village under the upazila.
Lt Col Sahed Minhaz Siddiki, Commanding Officer of BGB-49 Battalion, said Abul Kalam was going to his smuggling point by a motorbike.
Estimated value of the gold bars weighing 3.583kg is nearly Tk 58 lakh.
