Information and Broadcasting Minister and Awami League Joint General Secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud on Friday said BNP has run out of breath and now chose the path of road march programme, reports BSS.
He said while replying to journalists after visiting Madrasha ground in the city before Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's public rally at the venue on January 29.
“As a person cannot run when he or she feels shortness of breath, BNP chose the path of walking or road march programme after running out of breath,” he said.
Hasan said, in fact, when a car becomes old and if it is not started sometimes, the car becomes immobile. That's why BNP announces various programmes after an interval of few days, he added.
About preparation for the next general elections, he said, AL goes to people round the year and stays beside them.
"We have been staying beside the people for the last 14 years. We did so in the past, too and will do in the coming days as well," he said.
The AL joint general secretary said during the coronavirus pandemic, AL stood by the people with foods and Covid-19 protective equipment.
While doing the task, many AL leaders and workers were infected with coronavirus and many of them lost their lives, he mentioned.
Noting that BNP couldn't be found during the pandemic, he said, Awami League always stayed beside the people during any cyclone, flood or crisis and will do so in future, too.
Hasan said BNP appears during elections like migratory birds. Then it eats and becomes fatty and disappears later, he added.
He said the public rally of Bangabandhu's daughter Sheikh Hasina will witness a mammoth gathering as massive enthusiasm is prevailing among the people and leaders and workers of AL of Rajshahi division ahead of the premier's visit to the divisional city.
He hoped that Rajshahi city will turn into a human sea as the people of entire Rajshahi is eagerly waiting to welcome Sheikh Hasina.
Hasan Mahmud, who is tasked with overseeing organizational activities in Rajshahi and Rangpur divisions as joint general secretary of AL, reached Rajshahi this afternoon.
He visited the rally venue at Rajshahi madrasah ground along with central and local leaders and workers.
