Bashundhara Group, the leading business conglomerate of the country, distributed blankets among the cold-hit poor in Thakurgaon on Wednesday.
A total of 1,000 blankets were distributed by Shuvo Sangha, a social organisation of Bashundhara Group’s vernacular daily Kaler Kantho, on behalf of the largest corporate body, reports The Daily Sun.
Thakurgaon Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Mamun Bhuiyan inaugurated the blanket distribution programme at the Zilla Parishad Auditorium.
A beneficiary named Nirbala Banu said, "I was suffering a lot during this winter. No one gave me a blanket. I will be able to sleep peacefully from today. Pray for the Bashundhara Group so that they can stand beside us.”
Thakurgaon ADC Mamun Bhuiyan said, “I hail Bashundhara Group for this nobility and thank its Chairman for standing by the helpless people of the society. During the winter, the poor suffer the most. So, Bashundhara Group's gift for cold-hit people is beneficial. I hope they will continue this.”
Among others, Jakaria Zaman, director of Shuvo Sangha, Abdul Latif Litu, district correspondent of Bangladesh Pratidin and News24, Partha Sarathi Das, district correspondent of Kaler Kantho and Jamun TV, Tapas Debnath, Thakurgaon Shuvo Sangha vice-president, Rashedul Alam, general secretary, were present on the occasion.
