Bashundhara Group has distributed warm clothes to 400 cold-hit families in Sadar Upazila of Joypurhat.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Joypurhat Salehin Tanvir Gazi inaugurated the programme at circuit house ground on Thursday morning, reports The Daily Sun.
The northern district is worst affected by the pinching cold triggered by the sloppy temperature from the Himalayan catchment.

After receiving the cloth, elderly Amena Khatun said “I have been suffering in the cold for several days. I was unable to sleep in the night. I requested many people to give me a blanket but no one helps me. I am now happy as Bashundhara gave me a blanket”.
Aklima Begum of Adarsh Para area also said, "We are poor very people. Bashundhara group helped us by giving blankets. May Allah bless Bashundhara chairman and his family members.”
Shuvo Sangha’s director Jakaria Zaman, Joypurhat Press Club president Nripendhonath Mandol, former general secretary K M Abdur Rahman Rony, among others, were present at the blanket distribution event.
