The polling in Gaibandha-5 constituency by-polls was held through electronic voting machines (EVMs) amid festivity and tight security.
The voting has begun at 8:30 am and continued till 4:30 pm without any break at 145 centres on Wednesday.
A total of 339,743 voters cast their votes in the by-polls.
The election commission and the local administration have taken necessary measures to hold the election peacefully.
Awami League candidate Mahmud Hasan Ripon, Jatiya Party candidate AHM Golam Shaheed Ranju, Bikalpa Dhara candidate Advocate Jahangir Alam, independent candidate Nahiduzzaman Nishad and Syed Mahbubur Rahman cast their votes.
Earlier on October 12, the EC suspended the by-election midway in the wake of the massive irregularities in many polling centres.
The Gaibandha-5 constituency fell vacant following the death of lawmaker and Deputy Speaker of the Parliament Fazle Rabbi Miah on July 22, 2022.
