In a somewhat contradictory exchange, the US president told his interviewer that Israel’s threatened invasion of Rafah would be his “red line” before immediately backtracking and saying he will never leave Israel, reports Al Jazeera.
“The defence of Israel is still critical. So there’s no red line [in which] I’m going to cut off all weapons so they don’t have the Iron Dome to protect them,” he said.
Biden also said that Israel “cannot have 30,000 more Palestinians dead as a consequence of going after” Hamas, and that “there’s other ways to deal, to get to, to deal with … the trauma caused by Hamas”.
