UN chief Antonio Guterres says conditions must improve to allow “large-scale humanitarian operations” in Gaza amid widespread hunger and displacement, reports Al Jazeera.
Meanwhile, UN Security Council expected to vote on Gaza resolution on Thursday after days of negotiations aimed at avoiding a US veto.
The head of Hamas’s political bureau Ismail Haniyeh has arrived in Cairo for talks on the war as hopes grow that the Palestinian group and Israel can agree terms for another truce.
Ismail Haniyeh arrived in the Egyptian capital on Wednesday to meet with Cairo’s spy chief and other Egyptian officials acting as key mediators.
On the battlefield, three Israeli soldiers were reported killed in fighting in northern Gaza and included a 19-year-old sergeant in Battalion 931 and two lieutenants aged 20 and 21, both serving in the “Geffen” Battalion.
At least 134 Israeli soldiers have been killed so far in the ground invasion of Gaza and some 740 wounded.
An estimated 20,000 Houthis have held an armed parade waving Palestinian and Yemeni flags in the Amran province, Yemen.
The men marched on Monday as the US announced a joint force to respond to Houthi attacks on Red Sea shipping routes.
The Yemeni group have said they will halt their attacks if Israel ends its assault on Gaza.
