The Palestinian Foreign Ministry has warned that Israel’s government aims to “solidify the separation” between the occupied West Bank and Gaza, undermining a future Palestinian state, as it carries out deadly raids and gives cover to settler violence, reports Al Jazeera.
In a post on X (formerly known as Twitter), the ministry condemned the killing of 38-year-old Ahmed Assi, who was reportedly shot by Israeli settlers on Saturday evening, as “a deliberate attempt to escalate the situation in the West Bank.”
Palestinian news agency Wafa reported that Israeli forces protected the settlers who attacked Assi in the northern West Bank province of Salfi and then prevented medics from reaching him.
