Director General (Grade-1) of the Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection (DNCRP) Mohammed Alim Akhter Khan has said there will be no goods crisis during the upcoming Ramadan.
“We will try to keep the prices of essential commodities under control during the Ramadan and there will be no shortage of food,” he said.
He made the assertion while addressing the Rajshahi divisional consumer rights conference, which was organized by the Consumer Association of Bangladesh (CAB) at the deputy commissioner's office on Sunday.
The DG of the DNCRP said the government has reduced the duty and tariff on some Ramadan products, including soybean oil, sugar, chickpeas, dates, and vermicelli. Many businessmen opened LCs and are importing goods. There will be no shortage of food in Ramadan.
He also said the members of the Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection will have to be aware of the price of meat so that it can’t go beyond the capacity of the common people.
