Injured individuals from the July Movement, who were on their way to the hospital for treatment, staged a road blockade on the Shyamoli-bound lane of Agargaon, directly in front of the National Orthopaedic Hospital and Rehabilitation Institute (NITOR).
The protest began around 1:20 p.m. on Wednesday, November 13, leading to a significant increase in traffic congestion on the Shyamoli-bound road. The blockade has caused ongoing traffic delays in the area.
According to reports, British High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Sarah Cook, and Advisor to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Nurjahan Begum, visited NITOR around 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 13. During their visit, they spent over an hour touring the men's ward on the fourth floor. However, they expressed frustration at being unable to visit the injured patients in the third-floor ward before they prepared to leave.
At one point during the incident, the protesters stopped a Ministry of Health vehicle. One of them sat in front of the vehicle's front wheel, while another climbed onto its roof. The group also began punching the vehicle and demanded that the driver get out.
Eventually, the Health Advisor and the British High Commissioner quietly departed in a different vehicle. The protestors also blocked a police vehicle that was part of the protocol, before eventually dispersing from the road.
