The High Court has issued a ruling asking why a commission should not be formed to conduct a fresh investigation into the BDR mutiny and massacre.
The HC bench headed by Justice Farah Mahbub issued the ruling on Tuesday.
Advocate Tanvir, the Lawyer of the petitioner said, “The court issued a rule asking why the incident should not be re-investigated and ordered to settle the representation we placed at Home Ministry within 10 days.”
Two lawyers, including Tanvir, filed the writ petition on Oct 20. It named the home affairs secretary, the cabinet secretary, the law and justice secretary, the IGP of police and the RAB director general as defendants.
Before filing the petition, they made an application to the ministry seeking a fresh investigation of the incident. The court petition was filed when they received no response.
A number of 74 people including 57 military officers were killed in February 25-25 of 2009. The incident drawn a global attention then.
