The United States (US) has congratulated Bangladesh on the occasion of the inauguration of the country’s first-ever metro rail.
The US embassy in Dhaka in a message greeted Bangladesh on Wednesday.
In the message, it said, “Congratulations Bangladesh for opening metro rail service in Dhaka. We want to make a special shout for metro rail women operators including Mariam Afiza.”
Earlier in the day, Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the first-ever metro rail service in the capital.
She inaugurated the operation of the first phase of the project-- Uttara to Agargaon--at 11:00 am from the Uttara sector-15 playground.
Marking the occasion, she also unveiled a commemorative stamp and a Tk 50 banknote.
