Bangladesh and Pakistan have scrapped ODIs from their upcoming bilateral series, opting instead for T20 matches as both teams prepare for this year's Asia Cup in India and next year’s ICC T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka.
Bangladesh was originally set to tour Pakistan in May for a three ODI and three T20 series under the Future Tours Programme (FTP), but the two boards have agreed to convert it into a five match T20 series, a BCB official said.
Pakistan was also scheduled to visit Bangladesh in July for a three-match ODI series outside the FTP, but that too has been switched to T20s. The matches will be played in Dhaka on July 20, 22, and 24, just before Pakistan’s tour of the West Indies.
The Asia Cup, scheduled for September in India, will also be played in the T20 format as teams gear up for the World Cup.
The format change aligns with both teams’ focus on fine-tuning their squads ahead of the global tournament.
