A team of Bangladeshi students has earned a place in the University Rover Challenge 2025 (URC 2025), the world’s most prestigious robotics competition for undergraduate students, organized by The Mars Society, according to a press release.
The students are from UIU Mars Rover, the robotics team of United International University (UIU). With an impressive System Acceptance Review (SAR) score of 92.53 out of 100, UIU ranked among the top rover teams globally. This year, 114 teams initially competed, with 76 submitting SAR packages, but UIU’s team advanced to the finals, set for May 28–31, 2025, at the Mars Desert Research Station (MDRS) in Utah, USA.
This achievement marks a significant milestone for Bangladeshi students in space technology and robotics. Supervised by Md. Abid Hossain, Lecturer in UIU’s Department of CSE, the team will showcase their advanced Mars Rover system on the international stage.
Expressing pride in their accomplishment, the students credited their success to the support of UIU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Abul Kashem Mia and the encouragement of their well-wishers. Motivated and determined, they aim to make Bangladesh proud in the competition’s challenging desert terrain.
