Hamza Choudhury, who is currently in Shillong in India to play for Bangladesh national football team against India, sent his best wishes for cricketer Tamim Iqbal’s successful recovery.
Tamim suffered a heart attack during a Bashundhara Dhaka Premier League (BDPL) match on Monday morning. He felt discomfort in his chest while on the field and was immediately rushed to the hospital for emergency treatment.
“So sorry to see the news about my fellow countryman Tamim Iqbal. I want to send my best wishes to him and his family. Inshallah he will have a successful recovery,” Hamza said in a video message posted by T Sports.
According to Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) chief physician Debashish Chowdhury, Tamim underwent an initial electrocardiogram (ECG) at a nearby KPJ Specialized Hospital, which revealed abnormalities. Despite feeling discomfort, he attempted to return to the field but soon experienced severe chest pain again, prompting his second hospital admission.
Dr Rajib Hasan, director of KPJ Specialized Hospital, confirmed that the surgery was successful, but Tamim remains under intensive observation for the next 24 hours.
The southpaw is now conscious and talked to his family members.
