The government has declared a general holiday on April 13 in three hill districts of Rangamati, Khagrachhari and Bandarban on the occasion of the upcoming Chaitra Sankranti (the last day of Chaitra).
In other districts of the country, there will be an optional holiday for the people concerned about Chaitra Sankranti.
The Ministry of Public Administration issued a notification declaring this holiday through an executive order on Thursday.
According to the notification, all government, semi-government, autonomous, semi-autonomous and private offices in Rangamati, Khagrachhari and Bandarban districts will remain closed during the holiday.
Emergency services such as electricity, water, gas and other fuels, fire service, port activities, cleaning activities, telephone and internet, postal services and vehicles and workers engaged in these related services will be outside the scope of this holiday.
In addition, hospitals and emergency services and staff related to these services, doctors, vehicles and staff carrying medical equipment including medicines, and offices related to emergency work will also be outside the scope of this holiday.
The notification stated that Bangladesh Bank will issue necessary instructions on April 13 regarding the continuation of banking activities and the Supreme Court will issue the same instructions regarding court activities.
