Bangladesh midfielder Hamza Choudhury has left Dhaka for England. Before departing, he thanked his fans and assured them that he would return in June.
On Tuesday (March 25) night, Bangladesh played an away match against India in the AFC Asian Cup qualifiers. The team returned to Dhaka next evening, traveling via Shillong, Guwahati, and Kolkata. Hamza also arrived with the team.
However, his stay in Dhaka was brief—just one night. On Thursday morning, he left for England to rejoin Sheffield United. Meanwhile, other team members will either return to their respective clubs or head home for the Eid holidays.
Before leaving, Hamza expressed his gratitude to fans for the warm reception. In a video posted on the official Facebook page of the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF), he said, "I can't express how much this means to me. Thank you. Inshallah, I will be back in June. Please keep me in your prayers for my well-being."
Hamza is set to return in June. On June 10, he will take the field for Bangladesh’s home match against Singapore in the Asian Cup qualifiers.
Hamza’s club, Sheffield United, has a crucial match against Coventry City on March 29 at 2:00 AM (BST). Currently, the team is in second place in the Championship standings, level on points with Leeds United but trailing on goal difference.
To ensure he doesn’t miss this important fixture, Hamza is heading back to his club without delay.
