Bangladesh head coach Phil Simmons said today (March 28) that he enjoyed his initial tenure in charge, as the players demonstrated a willingness to fight until the end.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) recently confirmed that it has decided to retain the services of former West Indies batter Phil Simmons as the head coach of the national men's cricket team until the ICC ODI World Cup in October-November 2027.
The 61-year-old was previously contracted with the BCB until the conclusion of the ICC Champions Trophy.
During his initial tenure with the Bangladesh team, spanning from October 2024 to February 2025, Simmons served as head coach for the series against South Africa, Afghanistan, and the West Indies prior to the recently concluded ICC event.
“I think it was good (first stint as Bangladesh head coach),” Simmons said while reflecting on his time with the team.
“I think the players adapted to the change, and they started to play with a lot of freedom, which I enjoyed, while also standing up and fighting until the end,” he said.
“So I enjoyed the first stint,” he added.
