Tigers’ veteran all-rounder Mahmudullah Riyad formally announced his retirement on T20I career after the three-match series against India.
He declared the retirement during the pre-match press conference ahead of the second T20I against India.
Mahmudullah debuted in the format in 2007 against Kenya, the third longest T20I career, after his teammate Shakib Al Hasan and Zimbabwe's Sean Williams, of 17 years and 35 days.
Bangladesh have played 177 T20Is and Mahmudullah has been part of 139 of them.
Over the past 17 years, he scored 2,295 runs and took 40 wickets.
Mahmudullah’s strike rate is 117.74, averaging 23.48, and his highest score is an unbeaten 64.
He captained Bangladesh in 43 T20 matches, including leading the team in the 2021 T20 World Cup held in the UAE.
He had previously retired from Tests in 2021 but shall continue to feature in ODIs, being the leading run-scorer for Bangladesh in the 2023 Men's World Cup in India.
