Bashundhara Kings’ non-residential professional training will begin its journey on 4 October.
The club will initially train three different age groups: 6-11 (boys and girls), 11-15 (boys) and 15-18 (boys).
Ahead of the launch, club’s president Imrul Hassan said on Tuesday that their initiative would be helpful for the country’s football as it would build strong pipelines for the club as well as the national team.
“Football is the most popular sport in our country, but we, who are involved with the Bangladesh Football Federation and different clubs, have failed to catch that pulse. Also, we need success in the national team to bring a revolution in the country’s football. And to make our national team successful, we need a strong pipeline,” he said.
“The same scenario is in our clubs. We need to work on this issue, we need to work on age-level groups. So, we decided to launch it (professional training). Our initiative will be helpful for the country’s football as it will build pipelines for our club as well as the national team,” he added.
The training sessions will be run by Kings’ decorated coaching panel at the turfs of the Bashundhara Sports Complex; even their head coach, Valeriu Tita, is also expecting to do some sessions with young budding talents. The sessions will be held three days in a week.
“I believe the benefit from such training will come after five to seven years. It is just the start. It is not a proper football academy at this moment. But when we complete our club building and will offer residential facilities, it will be turned into an academy,” he added.
“We will select potential footballers from the participants and offer them advanced training. We are also in discussion with big football academies from England and Spain. We will soon get technical and technological support from them. It is open for all but paid of course. Anyone can take admission here,” he concluded, Daily Sun reports.
