A cleanliness and environmental awareness campaign was carried out at Ramchandrapur Market in Gaibandha Sadar upazila on Thursday under the initiative of the Gaibandha Sadar upazila unit of Bashundhara Shuvosangho.
The programme aimed to maintain a clean market environment and raise public awareness about sanitation. Volunteers from the organisation actively participated in cleaning activities throughout the market area.
Speaking at the event, Bashundhara Shuvosangho Gaibandha Sadar upazila President Md Samiul Basir said that a clean environment is one of the fundamental requirements for building a healthy society.
He noted that maintaining cleanliness is not only a responsibility but also a reflection of civic awareness.
He added that the initiative was undertaken to make Ramchandrapur Market cleaner and more liveable and emphasised that a healthy environment can be ensured through the collective efforts of business owners, customers, and local residents.
The organisation’s leaders said regular cleanliness drives, along with greater public awareness, are essential for creating a healthy and attractive environment.
They also expressed their commitment to continuing similar community service initiatives in the future.
Among those present at the programme were Bashundhara Shuvosangho Gaibandha Sadar upazila unit General Secretary Md Ashidul Islam, Organising Secretary Md Hamim Ahmed, Office Secretary Md Sakib Mia, Hospitality Affairs Secretary Md Atikur Rahman, and members Md Millat Hossain, Sakil Hasan, and Zahid Hasan.
