Bashundhara Shuvosangho has provided various goods and merchandise to the store of visually impaired small businessman Ayub Ali in Dhamoirhat Upazila of Naogaon to help him continue his business and improve his livelihood.
The assistance was distributed at Ayub Ali’s shop, located near the border pillars at the northern edge of Altadighi National Park in Dhamoirhat Union.
Ayub Ali’s wife supports him in the shop, while the couple’s four children have all been married off. The two married sons no longer look after their parents, said Akhtar Banu at the event.
Ayub Ali said, “About 25 years ago, I developed problems in both of my eyes. Due to increased eye pressure, I eventually lost my vision completely. Since then, I have been involved in a small business to earn a living. My wife, Akhtar Banu, helps me run the business. Bashundhara Shuvosangho has stood beside a small businessman like me. The essential goods provided for my shop will help ease some of our financial hardship and enable me to support my family. I am grateful to Bashundhara Shuvosangho.”
UP Chairman ATM Badiul Alam said, “A blind person running a business while relying on the honesty of customers is truly extraordinary. There is no alternative to humanitarian support in helping disadvantaged and disabled people become self-reliant. This assistance from Bashundhara Shuvosangho will give him renewed motivation to continue his business and help him move further toward self-sufficiency.”
