The Singra upazila unit of Bashundhara Shuvosangho organised a tree plantation campaign in Singra, Natore, on Monday to promote environmental conservation and expand green coverage.
The programme began at the Singra Press Club premises and continued at several important locations across the town. The initiative was undertaken to help maintain ecological balance, address the adverse impacts of climate change, and contribute to building a greener Bangladesh.
The event was chaired by Singra upazila Bashundhara Shuvosangho President Rabiul Karim Khokon and led by General Secretary Kabil Uddin Kafi.
The Chief Guest was Molla Md Emran Ali Rana, chief adviser of the Singra upazila unit of Bashundhara Shuvosangho and Singra upazila Correspondent for Daily Kaler Kantho.
Among others present were Adviser Abu Jafar Siddiqui; Vice Presidents Shahidul Islam Sweet and Kawsar Ahmed; Singra Model Press Club President SM Raju Ahmed; Singra Smart Press Club President Khalil Mahmud; former upazila parishad vice chairman Anjuman Ara; Momtaz Mou; MA Kabir Babul; Motaleb Hossain; Shahin Alam; Organising Secretary Liton Ali; and other members of the organisation.
Speakers at the event emphasised that there is no alternative to trees in protecting the environment. They said that more trees must be planted and properly maintained to ensure a livable planet for future generations.
Participants also called for greater public awareness and collective action to build an environmentally responsible and sustainable society.
