Bashundhara Shuvosangho Debiganj upazila unit in Panchagarh has organised a tree plantation programme with the aim of building a greener and more liveable environment.
The programme was held on Thursday (7 May) afternoon at the field of Debiganj Government College in the municipal town.
As part of the initiative, saplings of krishnachura, bakul, olive, wild apple and mahogany, along with other forest and fruit-bearing trees, were planted on the campus, and different species of trees were distributed among students.
Advisors and members of Bashundhara Shuvosangho, teachers, students and local volunteers took part in the event.
President of Bashundhara Shuvosangho Debiganj upazila unit Nahid Siddiq Bappy said the organisation has always contributed to social and humanitarian activities through positive initiatives, and tree plantation is part of that effort.
Advisor Hasan Raihan said a tree not only enhances the beauty of the environment but is also essential for sustaining human life.
He added that planting trees in educational institutions helps improve the campus environment while also raising environmental awareness among students.
Lecturer Golam Kibria thanked Bashundhara Shuvosangho, saying trees are vital for sustaining human civilisation and such initiatives are highly commendable.
Principal Akhtar Hossain, also an adviser of Bashundhara Shuvosangho, praised the programme and expressed hope for more welfare-oriented activities in the future.
Among others present were Bashundhara Shuvosangho Debiganj unit advisory council member Hasan Raihan, publicity secretary Rasinnur, members Yasin Ali, Pritam Poddar, Shahriar Saddham, Kaushik, and college lecturers Abdul Kaiyum and Golam Kibria.
